A Visual Maggie Valley Aphrodesiac for Golfers.

Maggie Valley Club’s beautifully manicured golf course, which includes 30 acres of fairways, an 800-foot rise in elevation, and panoramic views of some of Western North Carolina’s most spectacular mountain ranges, was bathed in the hue of the ‘Blue Ridge Mountains’ late yesterday afternoon.

If you love to golf, you can warm up on the Valley Nine and then hike up your pink golfing slacks and tackle the Mountain Nine. Recovery in Maggie Valley Club’s Pin High Bar and Grille is a pleasure, but you cannot show up at the Pin High Bar and Grille in your tank top!

Equestrian Flavor Alive and Wet in Maggie Valley, NC.

Yesterday (Saturday) afternoon we lucky to enjoy an afternoon storm. Driving home, I noticed these horses, who are pastured very close to the entrance of the Maggie Valley Club on Moody Farm Road.  Looks like they enjoyed their rainwater bath… and the camera.

Sarge’s Downtown Waynesville Dog Walk … Through My Eyes.

Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation’s Annual Downtown Waynesville Dog Walk this morning was a barking success! Beautiful weather, great turnout, dogs of many sizes and colors, generous vendors, and lively contests. A good time was had by all, including Senator Joe Sam Queen, who I bet was preparing for the Ice Cream Social on August 14th!

You can donate money or time to Sarge’s any time - - here’s your link: Help Sarge’s.

Photo of the Day - Close But No Cigar!

Sarge’s Downtown Waynesville Dog Walk tomorrow has me ‘thinking dogs’ for my photos of the day (click here to read about the Dog Walk). Our local newspaper is not sending a photographer to the event, so I will be the ‘official’ photographer. The only thing that could be better than that would be photographing our Haywood County firemen and policemen for their bathing suit calendars!

Close but no cigar!

Harold Knight Serves Waynesville and Haywood Christian Ministry.

Harold Knight

Harold and Haywood Christian

Harold Knight, a well-known agent with COLDWELL BANKER Kasey & Associates in Waynesville, gives in many ways to his community of Haywood County, NC. Not only does Harold ‘give’ to all of the local ice cream shops in town, Harold also gives generously to many Christian and humanitarian causes throughout our County.

Harold and the Ford SUV

Several weeks ago Harold ‘downsized’ from his Explorer to a passenger car. Rather than trade in his Explorer on the new car, Harold donated it to the Haywood Christian Ministry to further, and support, their many causes. Lisa James of Haywood Christian Ministry (pictured with Harold) was happy to accept the keys to Harold’s 1996 Eddie Bauer Explorer.

If you would like to give Harold a call, you can reach him at 828-734-5533. He might not have another vehicle to donate right now, but he will sure meet you for an ice cream cone!

When I post my market reports, I feel an obligation to follow them up quickly with something pretty! Our numbers will no doubt change and improve as time goes by, as will the beautiful landscape of Western North Carolina.

Apple Harvest Festival

Thinking about fall and the changing of the leaves in the mountains of Western North Carolina? Our 2008 Apple Harvest Festival is a premier one-day festival with over 125 different vendors to tempt you, and it is held during peak leaf-looker opportunity time. Mark your calendars! October 18th in Downtown Waynesville, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Want to know more? Here’s the site.

Want a great place to stay when you visit this fall? Plan your next affair here.

Here’s another beautiful bloom I found on a drive up Sheepback Mountain.

Waynesville’s Main Street filled for the International Festival, FOLKMOOT USA.

The festivities for North Carolina’s Official International Festival, FOLKMOOT USA, on Main Street in beautiful Downtown Waynesville, got off to a wet start yesterday, but the day ended up dry with a twist of fried turkey leg. My friend Bonnie Williams and I wandered around and enjoyed the vendors, Folkmoot participants in their international garb, fresh hot Kettlecorn, and Holy Smoke Barbecue.
