Beware and Be Informed About Full Disclosure, Dual Agency and the ‘Business’ of Real Estate.
MUST READ FOR BUYERS AND SELLERS, and those on the fence.
My ALERT blog posted February 15, 2010 in case you missed it:
Several very interesting blog posts have come to my attention that put the spotlight on a situation that is embarrassing to me as a North Carolina Broker, and ultimately, something any Buyer should be aware of with regard to full disclosure of any commissions and/or incentives that might be involved in a North Carolina real estate transaction.
In a nutshell, a group of North Carolina Realtors wants to deny Buyers the FULL DISCLOSURE of commissions and/or incentives to Brokers!
- A February 10, 2010 article in The Charlotte Observer states: “A group of leading N.C. Realtors hopes to change part of a rule that protects homebuyers from having their search guided by their real estate agent’s financial interests.” Read the entire article here.
- “Shhh! Don’t tell my client that I’m being incentivized to sell them this house!“
- “Let’s Take a Big Giant Step BACKWARDS in Real Estate” ~ MUST READ.
My thoughts? Buyers and Sellers have every right to know any commissions and/or incentives to be paid. Period.
And dual agency is not in your best interest. It is in the best interest of the agency handling both sides of the transaction.
