Maggie Valley, Waynesville and Lake Junaluska… Monday After the Big Snow Storm.

I slid out my driveway yesterday afternoon (Monday, 12/21/09) to drive to KMart in Waynesville for a camping stove for the next power-outage in a snow storm, but I was too late. Not a camper stove on the shelves, so off I went to Ingles Grocery Store. Alas, Ingles was so crowded that I didn’t even go inside; instead I went for a drive through Lake Junaluska and then drove by Tube World in Maggie Valley with a reader in mind who asked me where her family might go for tubing or sledding while they are in town next week. The video below gives a quick view of Tube World, which is located right across from Ghost Town and the turn off to Cataloochee Ski Area.

You will see the snow was still plentiful yesterday, and certainly not in a hurry to melt. Today (Tuesday afternoon), there’s still snow cover but it is melting.
