Late Afternoon Pictures In and Around Maggie Valley 09/29/08.

Late Monday afternoon, ‘twilight’ time almost, Maggie Valley offered up these beautiful photo opportunities that I couldn’t resist.  Better than writing about real estate right now!

How Do Our Real Estate Sales This Month Compare to Previous Years?

Month-end is approaching and people are asking me how Waynesville real estate sales this September compare to previous years, as well as the Maggie Valley real estate sales.  Closings in Haywood County for the period September 1 month through September 27, 2005 totaled 106; 2006 totaled 85 ; 2007 totaled 64 ; and this year, September closings through the 27th totaled 39.

Comparison to Previous Years.

Simply put, we have had sixty-three percent (63%) fewer closings this year (for 09/01 through 09/27) than for the same period in 2005, the ‘best’ year in this comparison.  Closings have steadily declined since 2005.  Our absorption  (inventory) remains at approximately 28 months, which is redundant when looking at the reduction in sales.

Keep your eye on the numbers!

Wondering How to Check Your Bank’s FDIC Insurance Status?

While trying all weekend to post market reports and photos (considered media uploads) on my site (and not being able to!), I ran across this great article about a very timely subject, your Bank’s FDIC insurance status, written by Janeese Jackson.

“With the wild ride that banking institutions and insurance companies have been on lately, you might wonder how safe is your money? You can check out a bank’s FDIC insurance status by going to the FDIC’s Bank Find tool and typing in the name of the bank.”

Read more about Your Bank’s FDIC Insurance Status.

Dinner last night with Matt Fagioli of Diamond Dwellings at the Sweet Onion in Waynesville, NC was great fun, delicious, and topped off with chocolate.  Quoting dining partner Rick Smith of Waynesville, “This dessert is so good it makes my teeth hurt!”  Those of us who know Rick know it couldn’t make his hair hurt.
