One-Hour Artistry at Waynesville Gallery Association’s 2008 Benefit.

The Seventh Annual Quick Draw Benefit supporting Art in Haywood County Schools, sponsored by the Waynesville Gallery Association, was held last night (April 26th) at the Waynesville Country Club. Local artists set up shop and were given one-hour to create a fresh piece of work while those in attendance were able to wander and watch the works in progress.

The Silent Auction began at the same time the QuickDraw Hour began, followed by an extravagant dinner buffet outside, presented on tables featuring beautiful flower arrangements and mounds of edibles, artistic creations in their own right. I enjoyed artistically dripping chocolate sauce all over my fresh strawberries and an apricot bar.

The Silent Auction results and Live Auction bidding were held after dinner in the Blue Ridge Room, and a great time was had by all, including Mayor Gavin Brown, who stood guard behind his wife, monitoring the rise and fall of her bidding arm.
