Caricature, Susie Blackmon by Jerry Emerson

Haywood County’s residential real estate market so far this month is in winter hibernation in the sales department, but it is early in the month. (Read below what has gone into escrow this month!) Inventory of homes on the market is creeping up - - Maggie Valley has seen a slight increase in the number of homes on the market in the past 25 days (10), and Waynesville’s homes for sale inventory has increased by 17 during the same time period. Overall, there are 992 homes listed in all of Haywood County, up from the lowest number during the past 25 days of 966 (as of 03/11/08).

There are 5 homes that have gone into escrow so far in March. What I find very interesting (and what inspired this post) is the listing prices of these homes… the highest listing price in the March escrowed homes (to date) is $179,900. The lowest listing price of this group is $135,000.

What do you think this means?
