Starbucks is coming to Waynesville, NC!

Last week I walked into Ingles Grocery Store in Waynesville (off of Russ Avenue) and was shocked to find a big sign, and a designated “future Starbucks area,” loudly announcing the imminent arrival of Starbucks. For those who think Waynesville, NC is not going to be a progressive town with a delicious small-town flavor… here’s your sign!

Starbucks seems to appear in areas that are in or on the verge of a growth cycle. Did the aroma of our “under construction” Super WalMart and Home Depot in Waynesville Commons tweak their caffeine meter? Or did they notice Best Buy is studying feng shui to ensure their building faces the required direction, with the designated number of windows, and the proper placement of their sign to be in compliance with the Town of Waynesville’s ‘town code.’

  1. National Doughnut Day in Haywood County, NC!

[…] Market also has a very tempting case full of doughnuts (among many other things) and, now, a Starbucks to get your Mocha Java with an extra shot to wash down that glazed sugar doughnut… or two. […]

Just wanted to compliment the writer of this article.. I lived in Waynesville/Maggie Valley over on Hemphill and loved my four years there.. I now live in Jerome, Arizona an old mining ghost town turned artist community turned tourist vortex.. Our town will never have a starbucks as there are several in the valley below, but the theme of putting in more shops full of crap that people don’t need still pervades.. I remember the Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters, really a nice little spot.. Anyway, I would love to see Waynesville again someday, so keep the small town vibe going!!
