Slow and steady progress is being made by Cedarwood Development, Inc. on their project known as Waynesville Commons, which is scheduled for a Fall 2008 opening. Wal-Mart and Home Depot are listed as the anchor tenants of the 40-acre development.
According to Mark Clasby, Executive Director of the Haywood County Economic Development Commission:
“The Waynesville Commons development is moving forward as planned,Clasby said. The developer, Waynesville Commons Retail Associates, LLC, is a joint venture between Commercial Developer Associates, Inc. of Miami, Fla., and Cedarwood Development, Inc. of Akron, Ohio. The developers have worked closely with the town of Waynesville’s staff in making the development into something that will be quite unusual and exciting, Clasby said.
It will look really nice and different,he said.There has been a great working relationship with the town staff.
The development at the junction of Hyatt Creek Road and South Main Street in Waynesville, will be the catalyst for creating a newly enhanced entrance into Waynesville, Clasby said.
It will be a tremendous economic boom to the area and county, he said. This is the single most important development our community has seen in a long time. I am extremely excited about the potential of this development and what it will mean to us.”
