Will Cataloochee Wilderness Resort be home to a new Cabela’s in Jonathan Creek, NC?

December 2007 Haywood County Commissioners MeetingJanuary 2008 should bring new information and more controversy involving the development of the proposed Cataloochee Wilderness Resort here in Jonathan Creek, NC. Meetings with the Haywood County Commissioners, as well as a to-be-announced meeting between some of the principals and the public, are sure to generate more interest and more drama. The Haywood County spokesman for the Cataloochee Wilderness Resort, Frank Singleton, answered a few more questions recently during a visit to the office of Smoky Mountain News, including questions about Dean Moses, Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops.

“SMN: Have retailers been secured for this project? The plan calls for a Bass Pro Shop or Cabela’s.

FS: There are confidentiality agreements in place with the retailers. I’ve had direct consultation with some of these retail brands, including one specific one as an anchor right now. None of those things have been firmed up, and absolutely no contracts are in place with those folks. Conversations have taken place informally.

SMN: What is Dean Moses’ involvement in the project?

FS: Dean is a consultant to Cataloochee Companies LLC with Carlton Consulting. That’s his role, but there are probably 25, maybe 30 companies involved in this whole thing.”

So, will we soon see Neiman-Marcus in Jonathan Creek?
